SUBANG JAYA: 10-10-10 proved to be an exceptionally busy day for the stork at the Sime Darby Medical Centre (SDMC) in Subang Jaya.
By 1pm, 10 babies were delivered at the hospital.
The first baby, a boy weighing 3.66kg, arrived at 12.55am.
His beaming mother, Su Zee Vei, 35, who was admitted at the hospital on Oct 8 with labour pains, said she expected the baby to be born on the 8th or 9th of the month.
"I thought I had delivered on the 9th and was surprised to realise that our son was actually born on 10-10-10," she said.
Ling Sew Shin, the father of the new born couldn't stop smiling as he was happy that the latest addition to the family had chosen a good date to be born.
He and his wife believe that the birth of the baby on an auspicious day would bring better business and prosperity, among other blessings to the family.
The proud father, who wants to have at least half a dozen children, said they had two other children, Ling Xiu Rui, 4, and Ling Hui Yu, 11/2.
Being the first baby to be born on the special day, SDMC presented the family with a hamper, a Dunlop pillow, a special towel with the date inscribed on it and a stuffed toy.
Azmi Musa and his wife Dayang Zarina Abang Johny became the proud parents of a baby girl, the second child to be born at the hospital on Sunday.
Azmi, a film director and TV movie producer who made movies such as Portret Aidilfitri and Panik for RTM and Media Prima was ecstatic that a "star" was born to them.
The 2.54kg baby, the third for the couple after Darwish Amani, 7, and Damia Amanda, 4, arrived at 4.58am.
Azmi said they were looking for a suitable name for the baby which would also start with "D".
The parents were happy that their baby was born on a very special date.
Dayang, who works at a bank, said her family members have interesting birth dates -- Darwish was born on Valentine's Day in 2003, and her husband was born on 9-9-1974, she revealed.
SDMC brought more cheer into their lives by presenting them with a Dunlop pillow, a special towel with the 10-10-10 date inscribed on it and a stuffed toy.
Wu Chin Huei, chief operating officer of SDMC who presented the gifts to the patients, said, "These are little things we can do for our patients because this is an auspicious day for many of them.
"This day comes once in a hundred years, so we wanted to celebrate with them."
